Jason Patrick Owens
Quartet
In this quartet with guitarist Eddie Mejia, Bassist Masa Kamaguchi, and Drummer Ken Ychikawa, I compose music from the entire breadth of my musical taste. I find inspiration from many types of music such as folk music from around the world (China, West Africa, Ireland, America), punk/alternative rock, modern jazz, and classical music. Although this is an eclectic list of music when put together, I don’t aim to imitate or write ‘fusion’ of this music and jazz, I simply try to compose uninhibited by genre and recognize these sounds in my music.
All In All Down
All In All Down is a modern jazz quartet who brings together musicians from Brazil, Spain, and the U.S., each contributing their cultural and musical backgrounds to a shared sound. With infectious energy, balancing singable melodies with bold, complex song forms, each member is a composer and equal contributor to the band’s identity and sound. They celebrate diversity, trust, and creative connection—four musicians from different backgrounds creating a forward thinking music rooted in curiosity.
